| Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.
Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:
- Since January 2009 is the hotel ISO 14001 certified (link to download certificate) by the TÜV Rheinland Group for outstanding environmental management
- Five-Way-Waste recycling system (glass, paper, metal, plastic, and organic waist)
- Use of unbleached toilette paper only
- Non-Smoking work environment for all employees
- Installation of "water savers" for all guest rooms and spa area
- Use of low-energy light bulbs in entire hotel
- Installation of motion detectors in hotel
- Collection of clothing and toys on a regular basis
- Blood donation day in cooperation with DRK
- Selling seasonal dishes for a good cause
- Benefit trip with our boat "Adele" on the river Spree
- Benefit visit to the Sea Life center Berlin
- Regular support of neuhland e.V.
The Radisson Blu Hotel, Berlin is pleased to be supporting the neuhland Children's Homes since 2006 now by acting as a "Godparent" towards them.
Neuhland e.V. (reg charity) is a body responsible for social projects and institutions, which attend to the needs of children and young people in difficult crisis situations, some of whom are possibly suicidal.
The residents of these houses are aged between four and sixteen. Our support program and actions for the children and young people are just as multifaceted. They range from donations in cash and in kind to hands-on help by hotel employees - for example when the neuhland House needs to be repainted - to promoting
an introduction to working life by providing internships and apprenticeship positions.
Help us help others! With your help, we would like to make a lasting contribution to this important local institution. Especially children and young people, who still have their lives ahead of them, they deserve special attention and support.
