| Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. To read more about the RB programme, please go to www.responsiblebusiness.rezidor.com.
Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.
Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:
- Repairing and maintaining of reactive power compensation plants
- Using energy-saving lamps
- Collecting empty batteries and cartridges, fluorescent bulbs and oil
- Providing RB trainings for staff
- Saving electricity and water by washing clothes in a complete machine load (9 kg)
- For HK needs we use only environment friendly cleansers from «Ecolab» company
- Energy saving device in each room helps us to save the electricity
- Place cards at bathrooms to let our guest notice that towel will be changed only if they put it on the floor.
Responsible Business is not just about the environment; we also do care about the people.
As a part of our RB program, we help «Nochlezka» (Doss-house) whose work is focused on helping homeless people in St Petersburg. We provide them with old slippers, soap, shampoo, old bedclothes, towels etc.
«Bitel» working with drug addict people, whose aim is to help people back into life.
Also we help to some local children’s charitable foundations: Korchakov centre and «Zeleniy mir detstva» (Green World of Childhood). We supply them with old slippers, soap, shampoo, old bedclothes, towels, old uniforms, things from «Lost & Found» (which were not claimed for a long time). Conducting auctions of money collections for charity needs.
